How to Make Your Body Immune to the Swine Flu Virus – Fact or Fiction?

September 23, 2009 · 2 Comments

The following article appeared on The 1 Minute Cure Website.  I am not in a position to vouch for it one way or the other, though the scientific explanation given does make sense to me and fits in with other alternative therapies that I have come across.  I have tried it myself, but as I was not ill at the time I did not really notice much difference apart  from a small increase in energy levels.  It certainly did me no harm.

Anyway, here is the article from The 1 Minute Cure Website for your information and you can make your own minds up:

As the number of swine flu deaths swell to an alarming 1,800 worldwide, and the World Health Organization predicts an “explosion” of swine flu cases in the coming months and declares a “public health emergency of international concern,” a pandemic appears to be not only possible but inevitable. The last pandemic — the Hong Kong flu of 1968 — killed about 1 million people. (Source: Associated Press August 21, 2009)

In the U.S., a White House panel warns that swine flu could kill up to 90,000 Americans. The outbreak of swine flu virus last spring was only a preview of the chilling events to come. NBC’s Today Show reports, “Up to half the U.S. population could potentially be infected when the virus hits with full force.” The onslaught of swine flu will make itself painfully known during the upcoming flu season, starting fairly early in September. It will most likely infect 30-50% of the U.S. population, or up to 152 million people; 1.8 million hospital admissions are expected; and as many as 300,000 people will be requiring intensive care, according to the panel of advisors to President Obama. (Source: Robert Bazell, NBC’s Chief Science Correspondent)

Initial supplies of the swine flu vaccine, which will be available sometime in October are expected to be very limited — barely enough to inoculate the 160 million people who are at high risk of becoming infected. An even bigger concern is whether the fast-tracked vaccine is safe and effective — since it’s being rushed to market without the appropriate testing and safety evaluations. It is a growing suspicion in the general population and among certain members of the medical community, including Dr. Joseph Mercola, the publisher of a popular self-titled natural health newsletter, that being exposed to this new swine flu vaccine might prove to be more dangerous than the swine flu itself.

NBC’s Today Show even ran a news report in which the question was posed as to whether the swine flu vaccine testing (which started August 10) was making people “human guinea pigs.” This question must necessarily be asked because the swine flu vaccine catastrophe of 1976 is still fresh in the public’s mind. Dr. Mercola reported that in 1976, the swine flu vaccine was blamed for 25 deaths; several hundred people developed crippling Guillain-Barré Syndrome; and $1.3 billion in claims were filed by victims who had suffered paralysis from the experimental vaccine. “Even healthy 20-year-olds ended up as paraplegics.”

Madison Cavanaugh, author of The One-Minute Cure: The Secret to Healing Virtually All Diseases insists, however, that the fear is incorrectly placed on the swine influenza virus itself. “Microbes, germs, harmful bacteria and viruses, such as the swine influenza virus, do not cause disease in and of themselves,” Cavanaugh states. “They do seek their natural habitat — such as an oxygen-deficient body — rather than being the cause of the disease. It’s no different from the way mosquitoes seek out stagnant water, but do not cause the pool to become stagnant.”

Cavanaugh’s assertion is consistent with the findings of Dr. Rudolf Virchow (1821 – 1902), also called the “Father of Pathology.” It is also supported by Louis Pasteur, the notable 19th century French chemist and microbiologist best known for his remarkable breakthroughs in the causes and prevention of disease, who recanted his germ theory of disease at his deathbed, stating, “The microbe is nothing. The terrain is everything.” The terrain of which he spoke refers to an oxygenated environment in the human body, which makes for a strong immune system. A weakened or suppressed state of the immune system only occurs when the human body lacks oxygen, thereby allowing viruses, such as the swine influenza virus, to breed.

It therefore stands to reason that the swine influenza virus does not cause disease, but rather seeks out an environment where it can thrive best — and that is in oxygen-deprived bodies. “A sufficiently oxygenated body is uninhabitable by disease,” Cavanaugh states, and viruses can neither survive nor thrive in it. Therefore, the best defense against microbes, germs, harmful bacteria and viruses, such as the swine flu virus, is to keep the body oxygenated.

Cavanaugh’s book, The One-Minute Cure, discusses the therapeutic use of the only natural substance which stimulates the movement of oxygen atoms from the bloodstream to the cells to a dramatically greater degree than is usually reached by other means. This action creates an oxygenated environment that enables the body to cure itself of virtually all diseases ranging from influenza to cancer, AIDS, heart disease, asthma, diabetes and arthritis. The natural oxygenating substance which is the core subject of the book has a long history of therapeutic use dating back 170 years ago when it was used to reverse a wide variety of illnesses — from minor ones like colds and flu to serious ones like cholera and malaria. It has even been used to help stop the Spanish Flu of 1918.

Over the past 70 years, this safe, inexpensive and powerful healing modality has been administered by an estimated 15,000 European doctors, naturopaths and homeopaths to more than 10 million patients to successfully treat practically every known disease. The natural remedy can be self-administered at home in less than a minute, and costs only 1-1/2 cents a day to use. For more information, visit www.1MinuteCure.com

The One Minute Cure (Part 1)

July 1, 2009 · 5 Comments

A book that is doing the rounds right now and becoming very popular is The One Minute Cure:  The Secret To Healing Virtually All Diseases.   The book quotes examples of people with (amongst other things) advanced cancer and HIV/AIDS returning to full health.

As regular readers will know, I am not a fan of the pharmaceutical companies and I am interested in alternative health methods.  I therefore brought the book and I thought I would share my humble opinion with you.

Firstly though, I will emphasise that although I consider myself to be quite well informed, I have no medical training and this is just my opinion.  It should not be considered as medical advice.

I did not agree with all that was said in the book, but its bottom line reasoning does make a lot of sense to me.  The book reasons that as our bodies are 70% to 80% water and water is 89% oxygen (by weight); then our bodies are 62% to 71% oxygen.  We can go without food and drink for days or even weeks, but will only last minutes without oxygen.  Oxygen really is THE most important element for human life.  We always feel better for a bit of fresh air, yet sluggish when staying indoors or in a smoky environment for too long.

Viruses, pathogenic bacteria and even cancer cells are anaerobic (thrive without oxygen) whilst the useful probiotic bacteria are aerobic (need oxygen).  So every cell in our body as well as the good bacteria that supports our life, all need a good supply of oxygen; whilst viruses, pathogenic bacteria and defective cells (like cancer cells) die in the presence of too much oxygen.  The One Minute Cure continues that we seldom get enough oxygen, especially if we live in areas of high pollution (always associated with higher disease rate and chemical sensitivity).

The One Minute Cure also quotes a theory stating that viruses and pathogenic bacteria do not in themselves cause disease, they look for an environment that they can thrive in (low oxygen).  I would argue that viruses and pathogens do actually cause disease, but obviously a well oxygenated body will fight the disease a lot more efficiently.

So bearing in mind than most of us do not have the time to spend all day on a mountain side practising deep breathing exercises, how do we efficiently oxygenate our bodies every day?

The One Minute Cure gives two main methods, the first being ozone therapy.  Oxygen is usually in the form of O2, that is 2 oxygen atoms joined together.  Ozone is O3, which is 3 oxygen atoms joined together.  You can see then that ozone provide an extra oxygen atom which obviously helps to super-oxygenate the body.  However, specialist equipment is needed and it can not easily be self administered.  If you go to a therapist, it can get expensive too.

The other method is much simpler and much more available.  It is simply to dilute an easily obtainable oxygen rich substance in pure water.  However, it comes with a warning as it can be dangerous if not applied properly:
1.      It must be diluted properly
2.     It must be food grade (no other grade)
3.     It must be taken several hours apart from food

If the guidelines are followed, then it is very safe, very cheap and supposedly very effective.  I am not going to name the substance here because to be blunt, I don’t want to be responsible for somebody not doing it right, harming themselves or their loved ones and then blaming me.  I won’t take that responsibility, so get the book and do it right.

Where I did not completely agree with the book is that it slates the pharmaceutical companies and the nutritional supplement industry.  I agree with most of what it says about the pharmaceutical companies, but I do acknowledge that we need them for some things (when natural methods are exhausted).  As for the nutritional supplements industry, I agree that there are a lot of products that do not live up to their claims or hype and are a waste of money.  However, with a bit of research you can find some very powerful nutritional supplements, yet The One Minute Cure (although not saying it outright) gives the impression that all nutritional supplements are a waste (which I can not agree with).  That said, the best nutritional supplements do tend to be more expensive, yet the One Minute Cure does offer a much cheaper alternative, that potentially may do the same job.

It also refers to colloidal silver stating that it can turn you blue (yawn – not that one again)!  I have answered that one so many times I will not bother here, but again The One Minute Cure does insinuate the worst case scenario, rather than a balanced overview.

It also quotes that 15,000 European doctors, naturopaths and homeopaths have administered this substance to over 10 million patients.  Without actually saying so, it gives that impression that this substance was administered in isolation.  However, I suspect that it was administered as part of a protocol along with other supplements (just my guess).

Overall however, I thought The One Minute Cure made a lot of sense and though I have doubts that it can completely cure virtually all diseases on its own, I does make sense that it will assist the body in fighting most diseases, viruses and pathogens, and increase the chances of returning to health.  I also believe that it is a good cheap maintenance method to help prevent you from getting ill in the first place (much cheaper than the best nutritional supplements).  I have some of the substance on order and am looking forward to trying it out.  I’ll let you know what I find.

Symptoms Of Swine Flu And What To Do

June 29, 2009 · 2 Comments

The following article appeared in the HealthyAgain.biz blog, so I thought I would share it with you.  There is a lot more information on Swine flu in the HealthyAgain blog:
What is swine flu?

Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses. Outbreaks of swine flu happen regularly in pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. Most commonly, human cases of swine flu happen in people who are around pigs but it’s possible for swine flu viruses to spread from person to person also.

What are the signs and symptoms of swine flu in people?

The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu. In the past, severe illness (pneumonia and respiratory failure) and deaths have been reported with swine flu infection in people. Like seasonal flu, swine flu may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.
How serious is swine flu infection?

Like seasonal flu, swine flu in humans can vary in severity from mild to severe. Between 2005 until January 2009, 12 human cases of swine flu were detected in the U.S. with no deaths occurring. However, swine flu infection can be serious. In September 1988, a previously healthy 32-year-old pregnant woman in Wisconsin was hospitalized for pneumonia after being infected with swine flu and died 8 days later. A swine flu outbreak in Fort Dix, New Jersey occurred in 1976 that caused more than 200 cases with serious illness in several people and one death.

What should I do if I get sick?

If you live in areas that have reported cases and become ill with influenza-like symptoms, including fever, body aches, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, or vomiting or diarrhea, you may want to contact their health care provider, particularly if you are worried about your symptoms. Your health care provider will determine whether influenza testing or treatment is needed.

If you are sick, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people as much as possible to keep from spreading your illness to others.

If you become ill and experience any of the following warning signs, seek emergency medical care.

In children emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

Fast breathing or trouble breathing
Bluish skin color
Not drinking enough fluids
Not waking up or not interacting
Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
Fever with a rash
In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
Sudden dizziness
Confusion
Severe or persistent vomiting
What can I do to protect myself from getting sick?

There is no vaccine available right now to protect against swine flu. There are everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza. Take these everyday steps to protect your health:

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

If you get sick with influenza, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
What should I do to keep from getting the flu?

First and most important: wash your hands. Try to stay in good general health. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Try not touch surfaces that may be contaminated with the flu virus. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

What is the best way to keep from spreading the virus through coughing or sneezing?

If you are sick, limit your contact with other people as much as possible. Do not go to work or school if ill. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick. Put your used tissue in the waste basket. Cover your cough or sneeze if you do not have a tissue. Then, clean your hands, and do so every time you cough or sneeze.

What is the best technique for washing my hands to avoid getting the flu?

Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. Wash with soap and water. or clean with alcohol-based hand cleaner. we recommend that when you wash your hands — with soap and warm water — that you wash for 15 to 20 seconds. When soap and water are not available, alcohol-based disposable hand wipes or gel sanitizers may be used. You can find them in most supermarkets and drugstores. If using gel, rub your hands until the gel is dry. The gel doesn’t need water to work; the alcohol in it kills the germs on your hands.

Why You Should Be Kind To Your Feet

May 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

On average we take 8,000 – 10,000 steps per day and have 28 bones in each foot.  Yet despite this high demand of our feet, we tend to stick them in our socks/stockings and shoes, then forget about them (except for the unthinking expectation for them to serve us on demand).

Sometimes over time, the arches of the feet start to collapse.  When this happens, the foot will pronate (inward collapsing of the foot).  This means that you are bearing most of your weight on the inside of the pads of your feet rather than spreading the weight evenly.  As the body always adjust for any misalignment, your heel may twist the other way.  So when you walk, as well as rolling from heel to toe, you foot also rolls from the rear outer edge to the front inside edge.

Again, the body will continue to compensate until even your spine can be out of alignment.  Pronation of the feet can lead to hip, knee and back pain, shin splints, planter fasciitis, bunions, black toe, burning under the foot, blisters, swollen ankle joints, heel spurs and much more.  If you have any of these symptoms, a quick indicator as to whether pronation may be a factor is to check your shoes for uneven wear.  Look especially on the heel of the shoe to see if one side has worn down more than the other.

Women should particularly take note, as women have 4 times as many foot problems as men.  I would guess that this is due to high heeled shoes, but I don’t really know.

orthoticSo what can you do about it?  Firstly, go and see an expert such as an osteopath or chiropractic.  If they find that you are pronating, then they may suggest that you wear orthotics.  These are inserts that you put into your shoe which support the arch and restrict the heel from rotating.  After a period of time the foot should become used to this new position and (as with misalignment’s) it will adjust itself accordingly.  Except this adjustment will be back to how the body should be.  Many problems will disappear.  My knees have certainly improved since I’ve been wearing orthotics.

orthotic2Although orthotics have been around for some time and are nothing new, many people who know nothing about them and are suffering needlessly.

Swine Flu: Petition To Regulate & Investigate Pig Farms

May 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I have previously posted about an environmental lobbying group called Avaaz.  As the Swine Flu pandemic is increasingly being associated with an American giant pig factory fam in Mexico, Avaaz is petitioning UN agencies and the WHO to investigate and regulate factory farms.  I have cut and pasted the Avaaz email below for you so that you can read it in its entirety, unammended.

So over to Avaaz:

“Dear friends,

No-one yet knows whether swine flu will become a global pandemic, but it is becoming clear where it came from – most likely a giant pig factory farm run by an American multinational corporation in Veracruz, Mexico.(1)

These factory farms are disgusting and dangerous, and they’re rapidly multiplying. Thousands of pigs are brutally crammed into dirty warehouses and sprayed with a cocktail of drugs — posing a health risk to more than just our food — they and their manure lagoons create the perfect conditions to breed dangerous new viruses like swine flu. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) must investigate and develop regulations for these farms to protect global health.

Big agrobusiness will try to obstruct and scuttle any attempts at reform, so we need a massive outcry that health authorities can’t ignore. Sign the petition below for investigation and regulation of factory farms and tell your friends and family and we will deliver it to the UN agencies. If we reach 200,000 signatures we will deliver it to the WHO in Geneva with a herd of cardboard pigs. For every 1000 petition signatures we will add a pig to the herd:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/swine_flu_pandemic

Last week the flu was all that we talked about — Mexico has been nearly paralysed and across the world leaders halted air travel, banned pork imports and initiated drastic controls to mitigate the spreading virus. As the threat shows signs of subsiding the question becomes where it came from and how we stop another outbreak.

Smithfield Corporation, the largest pig producer in the world whose farm is being fingered as the source of the H1N1 outbreak, denies any connection between their pigs and the flu and big agrobusiness worldwide pays huge sums of money for research to argue that biosafety is ensured in industrial hog production. But the WHO has been saying for years that ‘a new pandemic is inevitable’(2) and experts from the European Commission and the FAO have cautioned that the rapid move from small holdings to industrial pig production is in fact increasing the risk of development and transmission of disease epidemics. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warn that scientists still do not know the extent that infectious compounds produced in factory farms affect human health.(3)

Studies abound of the horrific conditions endured by pigs in concentrated large-scale operations, and the devastating economic impact on small farmer communities of bloated large-scale operations.(4) Smithfield itself has already been fined $12.6m and is currently under another federal investigation in the US for toxic environmental damage from pig excrement lakes.(5)

But even with all of this damaging evidence, a combination of increased global meat consumption and a powerful industry motivated by profit at the cost of human health, means that instead of being shut down – these sickening factory farm operations are propagating around the world and we are subsidising them (6). In the wake of this swine flu threat, let’s hold industrial pig producers to account. Sign the petition for investigation and regulation:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/swine_flu_pandemic

If we resolve this global health crisis boldly by reassessing our food consumption and production, and urgently calling for an inquiry into the impact of factory farms on human health, we could put in place tough farm practice rules that will save the global population from future animal borne lethal pandemics.

Green Recovery: What You Can Do

April 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Whilst discussing a certain issue, somebody once said to me that it doesn’t matter what we think, it is an idea whose time has come.  That is actually quite a profound statement, you can’t stop an idea once it has gathered enough momentum and even the most powerful goverments have to yield.  Ideas made English barons force the King to sign the Magna Carta (which led to the democracy that we take for granted these days).  The idea of power going to people rather than being hereditary led to the French revolution and challenged the accepted methods of government throughout Europe at that time.

The old saying that the pen is mightier than the sword is true, as the sword is used to do the bidding of the idea (pen).

earthI believe that an idea who’s time has come is, “green recovery”.  That is, investing in renewable fuels, efficiency and new technology to both save the planet and create jobs at the same time.  This is being discussed by people the world over from US President Obama to the Chinese leader, Hu Jintao (and course, many many bloggers like us).

US and Chinese political doctines have made them rivals in many ways, yet dispite that they are begining to speak the same language when it comes to saving the planet.  The US has already committed itself to investing almost 1% of its economic output to sustainable recovery programs, whilst China is putting over a third of it big stimulus package into green investments.  Furthermore, the South Koreans are investing two-thirds of its package in energy efficiency, green jobs, public transport and renewable energy.

Ironically, the communist system in China puts them in a better position to combat climate change than the West.  I read years ago that many Chinese cities have an environmental committee that will actually shut down factories for several days if the local pollution levels get too high.  Some people I have told this too have argued: yes but how bad does it have to be before the Chinese will actually do that, it will have to be really bad.

environmentI don’t know what levels the Chinese set before they will close factories, the bottom line is they do it, we in the West don’t.  Why don’t we do it.  Imagine if we closed a factory in one city for a few days, they would be screaming blue murder that their competitors in other cities were having an unfair advantage as they were not closed.  Our governments/councils have more concern that they may be sued over this than they have concern for our health or the planets future.  Now I am not arguing for or against communism (this is not a political blog), but the communist system does have certain advantages when it comes to environmental controls.

It should be no big surprise then that the biggest threat to progressing green recovery comes from the West, with the biggest dirty poluters paying a small army of lobbyists to undermine any green laws being discussed.  Their only interests is in their profits.

Many people feel that they are too small and insignificant to make a difference, but we can.
ideaGreen recovery is  an idea whose time has come.

Talk about it, blog about it, send links about it to your friends and join groups that lobby in favour of green issues.  Maybe we should update that saying about the pen being mightier than the sword to the keyboard is mightier than the bomb.

Creaky Knee Syndrome (And Other Joint Problems) (Part 2)

March 31, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Back in December 08, I wrote about joint problems and how glucosamine can help to ease pain and repair cartilage damage.  Whilst Glucosamine is certainly effective, I would also recommend that you visit a good osteopath or chiropractor.  If your joints are being damaged by some structural problem with bone alignment, then you will constantly be undoing any good done by the glucosamine.

As a young man of about 20, I was getting a lot of swelling around my knee when I went to my karate training.  There was so much fluid that it dropped from my knee to my ankle and my ankle had become literally twice the size.  I went to the doctor who could find nothing wrong with the knee and told me to rest it (no karate training).  So I rested it, swelling went down . . . . trained, swelling came back . . . . rested it longer, swelling went down . . . . trained, swelling came back up . . . . back to the doctor.

The doctor re-examined my knee, found nothing wrong again and told me to rest it for longer.  So I rested it longer, swelling went down . . . . trained swelling came back . . . . etc etc . . . . back to the doctor.  He still couldn’t find anything wrong and this time sent me to the hospital to have it X-rayed.  The X-ray showed nothing, and guess what I was told . . . . yes you guessed it . . . . rest it.

So eventually I went to an osteopath.  He concluded that my hip was slightly out and this was effecting my knee.  He clicked the hip back into place, told my I could train but to ease myself back into it and I had no more knee problems for years.  One visit to the osteopath sorted what 3 months of doctors and hospitals had failed to do.  The doctor and hospital did not even look at my hips.

More recently having another bout of knee problems I went to a chiropractor.  After a few clicks on the spine, he told me that my arches in my feet had dropped (which apparently is common as you get older).  This had led to my feet compensating by distorting slightly, which in turn had effected my knees and even my spine.

So whilst products like glucosamine and cod liver oil can be good for joints, it is well worth getting the structure of you body checked first or you could be wasting your money.

The Declaration: Stop Babies Being Born Pre-Polluted

March 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment

In the USA, the current law regulating toxic substances was passed in 1976.  Since then an estimated 20,000 new chemicals have become available.

It is claimed that pre-polluted new born babies are coming into the world with 300 industrial chemicals already inside their tiny bodies.  Pollution is increasingly being linked with a wide range of serious conditions including childhood cancer, autism, ADHD, learning deficits, infertility and birth defects.  When I was a child (I’m 46 now) we hardly ever heard of things like ADHD or childhood cancer, now they are common place.

A campaign calling for action is asking people to sign an on-line petition called “The Declaration“ which will be handed in to Congress when it is big enough.  Please watch the video below and sign the petition at http://www.kidsafechemicals.org/

Then pass it on to your friends, family and anybody you know that loves kids.
